About

The purpose of the website is to help equip both college personnel and incoming college students with information and improvement strategies regarding grit and social connectedness that will lead to better student academic performance and retention at two-year colleges, trade schools, vo-tech schools, and public and private universities.

This website has been created by Wade McDonald to fulfill the creative project aspect for a Masters Degree in Education Technology from Minnesota State University, Mankato.

The resource kit provided for college personnel consists of 20 compiled PDF files that provide background information on the two topics, grit and social connectedness, as well as supporting research demonstrating a correlation between higher self-reported grit scores and academic performance/retention at post-secondary institutions. Additionally, the resource kit provided several strategies that college personnel should consider when trying to bolster student grit and social connectedness at their institutions.

To directly help incoming and existing college students grow their grit and build social connectedness with their peers, instructors, and campus community, a step-by-step learning module has been created. To successfully pass the course and receive a certificate, students must earn an 80% cumulative score on the learning module.
